What’s happening: The release of documents on the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein is creating public relations crises for prominent figures around the globe — a testament to his vast network of powerful individuals.

  • Catch up: A court unsealed hundreds of files stemming from an alleged Epstein victim’s 2015 lawsuit against Britain’s Prince Andrew. The prince’s accuser, who says she was trafficked to him when she was underage, was paid millions to settle the lawsuit in 2022.

What’s new: Much information in the documents is already known, but they provide new, scandalous details on those associated with Epstein.

  • The Duke of York: Epstein allegedly knew Prince Andrew so well he had pictures of the two of them hanging at his Florida estate.
  • A former U.S. president: Epstein once said former President Bill Clinton “likes them young, referring to girls,” according to testimony. It has long been alleged that Clinton visited the late financier's private island, where numerous women say they were sexually abused.
  • A tech mogul: Google co-founder Sergey Brin vacationed with his wife on Epstein’s island, an alleged victim claimed. Epstein previously helped connect Brin with JPMorgan — a bank accused of aiding Epstein’s human trafficking — for investment deals.
  • The fashion industry: Epstein had a large supply of Victoria’s Secret clothing for victims to wear on his island, according to an alleged victim. Epstein had a close business relationship with the CEO of the lingerie dealer’s parent company.

Clearing up confusion: The documents contain allegations that Epstein had sex tapes of former President Donald Trump and other figures — but the woman who made this claim took it back years ago.
